About Us

Our goal is to transform the gardening and nursery industries to a system of reuse, shifting the culture from disposable to sustainable.

Back Porch Pots were born out of frustration over the staggering amount of waste in the gardening/nursery industries. Hundreds of millions of single-use, black plastic pots are sold by nurseries and garden centers annually, the vast majority of which end up in landfills.

For years, we scoured the internet every gardening season, searching to no avail for reusable and sustainable starter pots. In 2020, we founded Back Porch Pots to fill this gap and create a responsible alternative to single use garden pots.

For over a year, we researched materials, worked with engineers to design and test prototypes, revise product specs, and test again with seasoned gardeners across the country in all climates, to design the most durable and functional product possible.

We launched Back Porch Pots in the fall of 2021 with a successful Kickstarter campaign, and we are excited to finally bring Back Porch Pots to market.

Our long-term vision
We haven't always lived in a throwaway culture. In the not-too distant past, nearly everything came in reusable containers. Our goal is to transform the gardening and nursery industries to a system of reuse, shifting the culture from disposable to sustainable.
